Momentum Continues in Ireland for Data Cabinet Systems

Ireland’s ITS Industry to benefit from Wood Communications / Prism Partnership

Dublin, June 8th 2008: Wood Communications, Ireland’s leading distributor of fibre optic, structured cabling and associated telecommunications technologies, announced today a proactive distribution partnership with Prism Data Cabinets, the UK’s main self sufficient enclosure manufacturer.  As a result of the agreement, Wood Communications will offer a full A-Z offering of wall cabinets,  high Density patching Frames ,Data Cabinets all the way through to dedicated server Cabinets and all the relevant accessories that compliment them e.g. power distribution units (both dumb and intelligent), Intelligent monitoring, UPS’ & KVM technology products.

Traditionally, companies and network / IT managers experienced difficulties in supporting the equipment they were buying with their data centres due to a number of issues: power allocation, cooling needs, access control and fireproofing strategies.  However, technological advances now have brought more processing power, faster networks and more affordable pricing for high-level equipment.  Also, people are now willing to spend the money they had been saving over the past few years.

There is no denying that cabinets are a rapidly changing product and are becoming more intelligent day by day, with environmental monitoring intelligent Power Distribution units, and more complex cooling applications being requested more often especially in Data Centres.  Answering the growing demand in Ireland for advanced Data Cabinet technology, coupled with high delivery standards this partnership between Wood Communications and Prism promises to be very beneficial to the Irish ITS market.

This strategic alliance will enable Wood Communications to offer customers a more comprehensive product portfolio and supply bespoke cabinets when requested. Due to Prism’s fully functioning 24/7 operation, with three state of the art manufacturing locations in the UK, Wood Communications will be able to deliver within very short lead times. Logistical both companies are geared to export throughout Europe and this in itself will offer end customers peace of mind in relation to delivery times; which are crucial in ensuring smooth operations.
